The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (commonly known as the United Kingdom, the UK) is a sovereign state located off the northwestern coast of continental Europe. It is an island country, spanning an archipelago including Great Britain, the northeastern part of Ireland, and many small islands. Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK with a land border, sharing it with the Republic of Ireland. Apart from this land border, the UK is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel and the Irish Sea. The largest island, Great Britain, is linked to France by the Channel Tunnel.

Peoria (named after the Peoria tribe) is the largest city on the Illinois River. As of 2007 it is the sixth largest city and has population of 113,546. The Peoria Metropolitan Area has a population of 372,487, making it the third largest metropolitan area in the state after Chicagoland and the Metro-East portion of the St. Louis metropolitan area.
